Thank you to all the people who tuned into my live video with Marie O’Regan, a writer and multi-talented editor of anthologies (often co-editing them with her husband Paul Kane), and the Managing Editor of Absinthe Books, an imprint of the English independent press, PS Publishing.
We talked about Marie’s path from being an avid reader as a child, to starting as a writer, and her first work as an editor. It’s an interesting and wide-ranging discussion over 90 minutes about the practicalities of being an anthology editor: pitching to publishers, working with writers, crafting an anthology, and producing the best volume possible. We also discuss Marie’s work as the Managing Editor of Absinthe Books, and how she has curated her novella list.
Of course we discuss my forthcoming novella, House of Wyrd, and we also refer to some of our influences as well as other editors.
There’s a strange ten minutes of darkness at the end of the video due to a small glitch when the livestream stubbornly refused to end.
Perhaps a tribute to our mutual love of the horror genre and how much we enjoyed the conversation!
I hope to speak to Nicky Crowther, the publisher (with her husband, Pete Crowther) of PS Publishing in the next week or so. I’ll let you know when the date is set.
Have a great weekend!
