I happened to be in Falmouth in St Piran's Day and me and my daughter watched a parade down the high street in the evening. But all of this, is right up my street. I have a shape-shifting hare in the second novel. I researched the two branches of Celtic language (Did you know that's as where the phrase "mind your P's and Q's" come from?) and of course it's the landscape just west of Penzance that I walked to inspire my story, to learn what was possible in that landscape. 🙏🏼
In Sweden, they turn white in the winter with the snow. I wonder if it used to be the same here? If there used to be a different climate and that contributed to the shape-shifting stories?
I really enjoyed this story. At primary school I was in green house & we claimed St Patrick as our saint - so I’m more familiar with his story than the others, which I enjoyed.
Love Perranporth - a magical place.
Whenever I see a hare
(only twice in my life) it feels a spiritual moment- i can well imagine how these legends grow

How lovely! Hares are magical (they are in my area) and every time I see them I am enchanted. ✨️

The Irish Hare doesn't grow a lighter winter coat, but we don't get the extreme change in temperature here.
"The famous boxing activity of the hares in March is actually the larger females beating back overly bothersome male attention."
Good to know this.
Yes, for a long time it was assumed that the boxing hares were males vying for female attention but it turns out that's not correct.
It goes to show that sexual issues are not confined to the human race.

Thanks Posy! I see hares somewhere regularly here and it always feels special. 😍
