There was a time when I knew the Greek and Roman myths virtually by heart, but reading this made me think about how they are no longer so familiar to me. It makes me want to dive back into them!

I was obsessed with them as a kid, but that was a long time ago! Recently loved the new translation of the Odyssey and also Madeline Miller's books of course. Maybe need to go back to the classic books on mythology though to properly gen up.

Was that the Emily Wilson translation? I've been curious about it. I've only read The Iliad and The Odyssey in the Fagles translations. I was also obsessed with these myths as kid!!

Yes - I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't be able to judge if it's the best. But it was fairly gripping!

I enjoyed the Fagles translations a lot, but that was, dear god, over twenty years ago, so it's definitely time to give another version a go! I have also just remembered that I have a copy of Metamorphoses knocking around here.

I consider this post a success! Going back to myths is a happy homework. 😀

Maura, have you read Jung's book about flying saucers? Might be an interesting tangent!
