I had to read THE JUNGLE for a class in high school and it was genuinely unforgottable. <insert that meme captioned "not a cell phone in sight, just people living in the moment"> I also find it oddly comforting to be reminded that humans fundamentally do not change very much, for better and for worse.
People are the same but the costumes and settings are different. 😄 I'm happier with stronger food regulations (remember the European horsemeat scandal of not so long ago?) and better human rights... It's also instructive that making your own food from scratch remains the better option, even today.
